Paula Iancic studied singing and piano at the Artistic College “Sabin Dragoi” in Arad (2000 – 2013) and singing at the National Academy of Music “Gheorghe Dima” in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, where she obtained a master’s degree. She had her first stage experiences in various opera houses in Romania with roles such as Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi), Micaëla (Carmen), Musetta and Mimì (La Bohème).
As a member of the Opera Studio of the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich between 2016 and 2018, Paula Iancic sang roles such as Barbarina (Le Nozze di Figaro), Papagena (Die Zauberflöte), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Giannetta (L’Elisir d’amore), Zaida (Il turco in Italia), Maria (Der Diktator) and Flowermaiden (Parsifal). She made her debut as Oscar (Un Ballo in maschera) at the Bayerische Staatsoper in February 2018. On the same prestigious stage, she had the privilege of performing alongside great opera stars such as Diana Damrau, Mariusz Kwiecień, Nina Stemme, Alex Esposito, Doris Soffel, Alexander Tsymbalyuk, Christopher Maltman, René Pape, Vittorio Grigolo, Pavol Breslik, Matthew Polenzani, Ermonela Jaho, Ildebrando D’Arcangelo, Olga Peretyatko, Alessandro Corbelli, Christian Gerhaher, Ekaterina Siurina, Ambrogio Maestri, Anja Harteros, Simone Piazzola and Jonas Kaufmann.
The year 2019 brought Paula Iancic her first collaboration with the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf with the role of Philotis in Anno Schreier’s Schade, dass sie eine Hure war, in its world premiere. The year 2019 continued with her debut as Liù in Puccini’s Turandot at the National Opera House in Timișoara and her
house debut in the role of Violetta Valéry from La Traviata and Pamina from Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at the Grand Theatre Poznań. The year 2020 brought her back to Düsseldorf as Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro and for Romeo and Julia by Boris Blacher.
Her most important recent engagements include Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro) at Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf and her debut in the role of Leonora from Il Trovatore at the National Opera House in Timișoara. In February 2023 she was part of a series of concerts at Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and sang for the first time Adriana Lecouvreur by F. Cilea and Desdemona from Otello by G. Verdi at the National Opera House in Timișoara. In September the same year, she was invited in a special gala of La Bohème in Belgrade as Musetta, alongside Aida Garifullina. The beginning of 2024 brought her a special collaboration with the “George Enescu” Bucharest Philharmonic Orchestra for the New Year’s concerts, under the baton of Maestro David Crescenzi.
Mrs. Iancic’s versatility and musicality also allowed her to approach a vocal – symphonic repertoire, such as The Symphony No. 9 by Ludwig van Beethoven, Christus am Ölberge by Ludwig van Beethoven, Te Deum by Antonin Dvorak, Magnificat by Baldassare Galuppi, Nelson Mass by Joseph Haydn, Requiem by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Messa di Gloria by Gioachino Rossini, Mass No. 2 in G major D167, Mass No.5 in A flat major D678 and Mass No.6 in E flat major D950 by Franz Schubert.
The special full lyric soprano voice color alongside a warm and accurate musical phrasing brought Paula Iancic important prizes: Second prize – Mozart Competition – Cluj- Napoca 2013, Third prize – Vox Artis International Voice Competition – Sibiu 2014, Special Prize 1 – Alexandru Fărcaș International
